Pastor: GOP may be downplaying Palin’s religious beliefs – CNN.com

CNN found the video I posted below about Sarah Palin. They interviewed her former pastor. They are revealing that she is from Pentecostal roots. Most of the discussion is based around the notion that her faith could influence her decisions in office.
That is one of the most ignorant questions ever. Your faith must influence your desicions or it is not your faith at all. YES, we need candidates that pray. We need cadidates that seek God’s direction. Go back and study history, our forefathers prayed for HOURS TOGETHER before they formed our historical documents such as the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.
Now, in present day, we are concerned if a candidate is spiritual, even to the point of speaking in tongues.
i am getting fired up… the link below is the cnn.com article.

School Board
How interesting! The San Marcos School Board has contacted me this week and wants to meet with local pastors for a luncheon to discuss how the churches can be more involved. So…it looks like I will be dining with the district superintendent and board.
The main things they want to discuss are the discipline problems and lack of parental involvement.
How ironic after yesterday’s post.
WHAT SHOULD I TELL THEM?

Large Scale Ambition
To me, one of the dangers of American culture is that ambition, success, and potential always seem inseparable from big numbers. Most people think that ambition must involve a bunch of whatever you are aspiring toward. For example, singers think they are legitimate when they “hit it big”. Writers want to sell a million books. The more you accumulate, conquer, sell, buy, deliver, or even eliminate the ‘better’ you are. Values in ambition, success, and potential are quantity based.
What if someone dropped out of high school, went to work at a fast food chain and totally followed God’s plan?
Our education system in America is institutionalized. At the turn of last century, we tried to crank kids out of school just like Henry Ford cranked cars out of his factory. Now, teachers are trying to get as many kids as possible to pass a test. Where are our priorities? Our systems need to support (and fund) the hiring of more teachers so they can spend time with less kids. In our neighborhood, the system just built a $12 million elementary school. Before the school was even open the PTA was organizing a ‘benefit’ and needed people to donate popcorn machines and snowcone machines so they could make money to support the PTA. That grieves me. We just spent $12 million on a building and we need a popcorn machine to raise a few hundred dollars for our PEOPLE? Where are our priorities?
Where is the value of small, high quality items? Small careers that mean a lot to God’s Kingdom? Investing in one person instead of 1000? Remember, Jesus ministered primarily to 12 men and a couple of women. This strategy was setting up a couple thousand years of the gospel message spreading like wildfire.

GAS QUIZ

In lieu of the economy and current gas prices, I thought it would be cool to readdress this blog. Look at the comments to see our thoughts!! It was originally posted on August 6, 2008. Little did we know it would drop so far so fast. I heard it is $1.98 in San Antonio…
Gas(oline) Quiz
I just read on cnn.com that gas prices have gone down for the 20th straight day. The national average is now $3.86 per gallon. Strangely, we get exited about this price drop.
The question I am curious about is… how far do you think it will drop to over the next couple of years. If demand for gas goes down significantly with different types of cars, less driving, and more drilling, will the price drop to under $2 per gallon? Or have we passed that threshold never to return?
What is your gut feeling based on the news you have digested over the last few months?
a. Gas prices will continue to rise and never go under $3 per gallon
b. Gas prices will bounce around and possibly dip, but will eventually climb even higher
c. Gas prices will drop because of less demand and more supply, they will go down below $2 a gallon.
d. Gas prices have changed my attitude about the environment, the Presidential race, and my car
