Small Groups

At PromiseLand San Marcos, we have had “PromiseGroups” meeting since 2003.  Over the years, we have had tons of groups start and stop.  Some groups have lasted up to 7 years.  Others have lasted 6 weeks.  PromiseGroups are Set of Relationships that are based around a weekly meeting.  Though, the weekly meeting is at the core, PromiseGroups are meant to live beyond the meeting and affect our life together.  We have 3 basic categories of groups:

  • Classic – When these groups meet, they discuss the sermon from the previous Sunday.   The discussion outline is posted online by Monday (12pm). Here is a link to this week’s discussion outline.
  • Temporary – (I know we should have a catchier name than that) These groups are often “Christian” book based or theme based.  Examples of these would be Crazy Love, Purpose Driven Life, etc.  They will last anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months.
  • Missional – These groups are based on a project or specific ministry.  These include worship team, Sunday School, street ministry, prison ministry, etc.
