Good Friday to You…

I love Fridays as I am sure many of you do to.  However, Friday for me is like Tuesday is for you.  Friday is the day before the 2 most important days of my week.  Go figure how that applies to you…

Anyway, we are doing well here on the 10 acres.  We are narrowing in on our final Playground system.  The Children’s Ministry is about to remodel several of their rooms.  We have a guest worship leader this weekend: Matt Brock (no relation to Steve).  I am having the Journey Bible Study professionally produced.  It will be made available to other churches and individuals to complete.

We have had some great reports from PromiseGroup this week.  I am excited about the Sinor’s group!  We are about to organize our PromiseGroup calendar into Trimesters.  Three 16 week sessions per year with 2 week breaks in between.  Each Trimester will offer our regular groups plus specialty groups as well.  These groups will be for men, women, and several other interests.  This will allow people to be a little more ‘fluid’ in their participation.

Don’t forget our 5th Birthday Celebration will be June 6,7,8th!  Make plans to be here.  You won’t want to miss this weekend.

what did I tell you…

Yesterday, I told you about “Shout to the Lord”

I heard on the radio this morning that American Idol singers sang “Shout to the Lord” this week.  (i don’t watch the show this year).

I went online and sure enough.  Check it out!

Notice how the Spirit flows through anyone when singing. The message comes through.

Hillsong – Saviour King

hillsongHillsong is an incredible church in Australia. I had the privilege of seeing their pastor in Dallas a couple of months ago. Their story is a wonderful testimony of God moving in a local church. Their music is sung literally around the world. “Shout to the Lord” is one of the most popular worship songs of our generation.

Their CD titled, “Saviour King”, is my favorite worship CD of all time. It ushers me into the presence of God when the first note is sounded. My favorite song on the CD right now (it fluctuates) is Hosanna. Look at the bridge of the song:

What about Pirates?

Did you hear about 10 pirates off the coast of Somalia that held a boat hostage? I am not talking about 200 years ago. I am talking about several days ago. Did you know that pirates still sail the seas looking for boats to steal, pillage, and do whatever they want with? I thought for some reason that they didn’t exist any longer. I read on cnn.com that there have been many pirate attacks recently off of the coast of Somalia.

Well, my point is this…When we think of low-life scum stealing and killing innocent people in 2008, we would never glamorize them. Would we?

For some reason, when many years pass, we are able to separate the filthy, detestable, despicable, acts from the person. We have kids running around in pirate outfits saying, “aaarrrrr”. We have kids running around in bandit clothes, we have kids running around in… You get my point.

I was watching my 4yr old having this love for pirates. It made me think, why is this okay? Pirates were horrible role models. Then I thought of the VeggieTales who gave us a way out. “The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything”. These guys actually helped save people. So, is it okay now to have a pirate as a hero?
