Book Excerpt 2

Read part 1

We were at a point of brokenness.  We had hopes that this would all go away even after the initial tests.  We thought we would pray, believe, and get the results we wanted.  However, after weeks of ‘no’ from God, we finally arrived at the breaking point.  At this point, we finally realized our plans and God’s were very different.  We came to the grips that we were in a race.  We raced not in a sprint but in a marathon.  Now, many years into the race and as a senior pastor I have come to grips that God allows everyone to sink to the breaking point.  To some it comes early in life and to others, it comes much later.  However, it is to our benefit spiritually and naturally to see this breaking point.  This point is where you realize you cannot possibly see victory on your own and you must have the help of another entity to survive much less thrive. Trip to Destiny Conference

My Update

Hello Friends,

I am heading to LA today…Shreveport, LA that is.  Matt and I will be attending a minister’s conference put on by Destiny (a minister’s network) and Phil Brassfield.  John Ragsdale is leading worship and there will be great opportunity to connect with other ministers.

My writing is coming along real well.  I am almost through chapter Read the rest of this entry

The Blog And My Life Changes Again

This morning began a new season for me.  I sat down at about 7am and started writing a book.

Last week, I ordered a correspondance course that leads me through the process of writing an entire book.  Yesterday, I was like a little kid in a candy store when UPS delivered the package.  I couldn’t wait to rip it open and get started.  Today, I started working with the title and table of contents (it’s a non-fiction book).

This blog will be changing as of today.  It will be a platform for me to throw ideas out and have you help guide me through the process.  I will admit…there will be less blog entries from this point forward.  I am sure that the my blog hits will go down in this process.  I need to save all the creative, writing juices that I have for this book.    Consequently, I will be tweeting less, and updating Facebook less.  In order for newness to arrive, some of the old has to die.  I really feel like this is a new dimension in my life and I am so glad that many of you will be with me along the journey.  Of course, nothing in the realm of being a husband, father, or pastor will change.  Those roles are non-negotiable.

I was encouraged today when several people said they wanted a copy of the book.  I know now that I will at least have 3 readers.  Jacob Lowery wants the first copy, John Ragsdale wants the 1 millionth copy, and Katherine Burgett didn’t stipulate which copy she wanted.  I am not sure if John was trying to flatter me or he just wanted to make sure it was ‘worth it’ by a million others before he read it. 🙂

I am jogging off down the path.  I will be stopping off here periodically for breaks to catch my breath and drink some water of support.  Hopefully, you will be at the resting point pushing me on…
