The Blog And My Life Changes Again

This morning began a new season for me.  I sat down at about 7am and started writing a book.

Last week, I ordered a correspondance course that leads me through the process of writing an entire book.  Yesterday, I was like a little kid in a candy store when UPS delivered the package.  I couldn’t wait to rip it open and get started.  Today, I started working with the title and table of contents (it’s a non-fiction book).

This blog will be changing as of today.  It will be a platform for me to throw ideas out and have you help guide me through the process.  I will admit…there will be less blog entries from this point forward.  I am sure that the my blog hits will go down in this process.  I need to save all the creative, writing juices that I have for this book.    Consequently, I will be tweeting less, and updating Facebook less.  In order for newness to arrive, some of the old has to die.  I really feel like this is a new dimension in my life and I am so glad that many of you will be with me along the journey.  Of course, nothing in the realm of being a husband, father, or pastor will change.  Those roles are non-negotiable.

I was encouraged today when several people said they wanted a copy of the book.  I know now that I will at least have 3 readers.  Jacob Lowery wants the first copy, John Ragsdale wants the 1 millionth copy, and Katherine Burgett didn’t stipulate which copy she wanted.  I am not sure if John was trying to flatter me or he just wanted to make sure it was ‘worth it’ by a million others before he read it. 🙂

I am jogging off down the path.  I will be stopping off here periodically for breaks to catch my breath and drink some water of support.  Hopefully, you will be at the resting point pushing me on…

ps.  for those that are interested in the topic of the book, stay tuned.  That will come here soon enough.

  1. I know it will be wonderful. and for the record. I will get the first copy, because I have that kind of seniority.
I am so proud of you. You are an inspiration to me every day.

  2. also…he is definitely telling the truth about his family and other roles being non-negotiable.
This morning as he sat on the couch to start his writing, our oh so curious two year old who is normally a bear in the morning, decided he needed to have quality time inspecting what his father was doing.
robin stopped what he was doing and took time out to tame the wild animal.

  3. That’s awesome — I’ll take a copy (any number will do!) 🙂

  4. Put me on the list for a copy!!

  5. Elizabeth Wharton

So, maybe you didn’t get my text this morning…but put me down for a copy too! I can’t wait to read it. Your tweet this morning inspired me in a very significant way. Thanks for sharing the process with us!

  6. A guy named Randy Ingermanson has some really good ideas on how to design and set up a book, but I think he mostly writes novels. Maybe the idea would work for a non-fiction also. Good luck.

  7. jacob lowery

do it man. do it. can’t wait and i’m so proud.

  8. Ramon Rivera

    Keep moving forward!

  9. ok, from my calculations, I have seven copies requested. how cool!

Alana, so good to hear from you on here.

God totally blessed me with a connection here on Earth. Bruce Goolsby, a freelance writer and regular contributor to Charisma Magazine, called me yesterday and offered to help me along the way in the process. God is so good. How did he set this up so perfect? Because He is God.

  10. WOW! That is truly amazing—about the guy contacting you! God is wonderful and why am I surprised so often? I should just be used to it. Guess I’m just human. 🙂

  11. Justin Paredez

I can print it for you and help get it published. I have a few connections. 🙂 I will also need a copy.

  12. Wow, Justin, thanks!

  13. I would like a copy also. I think it is SO cool that you are writting a book. I look forward to buying a copy, and I dont care what number it is, I only have one question…. Will you be available for a book signing also? Good Luck!!!

I want to hear from you! Let's hear it....ready....GO!!!
