When They Come and Go

I am sitting in the San Marcos Public Library looking through the windows at the sunshine and beautiful trees.  I am preparing for Sunday’s sermon and listening to Michael W Smith’s new EP “Save Me From Myself”.  Because it is Michael W Smith, it is produced with incredible skill on an incredible budget.  It sounds amazing.  Completely professional.  This is not surprising because  he has been doing this type of quality project for over 20 years.

What amazes me is that Read the rest of this entry

I’m on vacation until next weekend.

Wow, this past week was amazing at PromiseLand San Marcos.  We baptized 8 folks and about 25 couples renewed their marriage vows.  Both morning services were FULL.  In fact, they had to add chairs at the 11 o’clock.  It is looking like we are going to add a 3rd service on Sunday mornings to create more space for people. EXCITING!!

I’m headed to Heber Springs, Arkansas for a week vacation.  My parents, my family, and my sister’s family are all hanging out in a house up there on a river.  It’s supposed to be one of the best trout fishing rivers in America.  So, I will be resting up and getting refreshed.  Staying up late and eating God knows what.  But then, I will be back to normal next week.

I love you all.

First Wednesday Worship Aug ’10

Last night was a night of records.  I’m not for sure but that looked like a record crowd for a First Wednesday service.  The offering was a record for a FWW.  The Worship team was a great combination of different players and singers.  Tbear on keys, John (new member) on drums…
Natasha did a great job with 62 elementary kids!  Pastor Ani Simonson from Nigeria spoke a great word on unforgiveness and how that can hinder your relationship with God.  Then, we prayed with many people.  Four people were baptized (including 3 18yrs or younger). It felt like a summer camp service for the whole church.  It lasted 3 hours and 8 minutes.  Afterward, we went outside and ate cold, sweet watermelon in the hot summer night air. If you missed it, then we will gather again on Sunday at 9am, 11am, and 6pm.  Join the family.

Thoughts on Colossians 4:2-6

Please read Colossians 4:2-6.  It’s  only 5 verses!  This will be the ‘text’ for PromiseLand San Marcos weekend services on Aug 1.

As you read, think about these concepts:

  • are my prayers resolute/firm/unwavering/steadfast?
  • are my prayers alert/watchful/vigilant/ready?
  • are my prayers thankful/with gratitude?
  • what doors are needed in my life that only God can open? Read the rest of this entry

NEW ADDITION to PSM

We got ourselves a little gameroom!  Thanks to the Carpenters for donating a SWEET pool table!  We also set up our ping pong and fussball tables and now there is a nice little rec/game room for youth and STAFF.  This afternoon some of the guys let off some steam and Michael Higgins actually broke a sweat playing ping pong.  (yes, he beat me)
