Gospel According To Texas

Any actors/actresses out there???

Here is an email I got from an old friend:

Announcing Auditions for the 2008 Production of
“The Gospel Accordin’ to Texas”
Saturday & Sunday Feb. 23rd & 24th at the EmilyAnn Theatre in Wimberley
Rehearsals will begin in April and the show will run every weekend in
June

GAT is my Original Country Musical that has been seen and loved by over
40,000 patrons all over Central Texas.  I took the Gospel of Luke and
examined what might happen if it had taken place in Texas today.  I like
to think of it as “Godspell” meets “Greater Tuna!”  It’s loaded with
laughs and lots of great music with a live on stage Country Band.  Don’t
get me wrong though… we are “having fun with” not “making fun of” the
Gospel message.  Like “Godspell” or “Jesus Christ Super Star”, audiences
always leave both entertained and inspired.

My biggest concern with bringing it to Wimberley (the Bethlehem of GAT)
is that I’m not sure we will have enough actors, singer, dancers and
musicians (especially men) for this very large cast.  So, I need your
help.
If you know anyone who has expressed interest in being involved in the
show, as a performer, musician, or part of the production crew, please
forward this e-mail and the attachments to them.  Normally we get many
veterans returning to the show, but because of the distance (Wimberley is
about 45 minutes from Austin) most of the veterans will not be returning
this time, so we really need you to help get the word out if you know
anyone in the South Austin, Buda, Dripping Springs, Lockhart or Wimberley
areas.

If there are any questions,  I can be reached at 512-891-9088 or through
this e-mail address.

Many Thanks!

LeRoy

  1. Hello!

I would very much like to audition for The Gospel Accordin’ to Texas at Emily Ann Theater in Wimberley. Fate has it – I have a profession- related conference that I MUST attend in Houston both days of auditions.

I’m writing to inquire if there are alternate days I may audition. I can be reached anytime by email or telephone. Please let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions for me.

    Thanks so much!

  2. LeRoy good to hear your name again. I am not able to try out for the play because I am head of the Bible Department at Global Vision Christian School in Eumseong, South Korea. But I would love to buy a CD or DVD of the show. Have you heard anything from your co-author of “This Present Darkness” the play? I would love to hear from you when you get a chance.

I want to hear from you! Let's hear it....ready....GO!!!
