GAS QUIZ

In lieu of the economy and current gas prices, I thought it would be cool to readdress this blog.  Look at the comments to see our thoughts!!  It was originally posted on August 6, 2008.  Little did we know it would drop so far so fast.  I heard it is $1.98 in San Antonio…

Gas(oline) Quiz

I just read on cnn.com that gas prices have gone down for the 20th straight day.  The national average is now $3.86 per gallon.  Strangely, we get exited about this price drop.

The question I am curious about is… how far do you think it will drop to over the next couple of years.  If demand for gas goes down significantly with different types of cars, less driving, and more drilling, will the price drop to under $2 per gallon?  Or have we passed that threshold never to return?

What is your gut feeling based on the news you have digested over the last few months?

a.  Gas prices will continue to rise and never go under $3 per gallon
b.  Gas prices will bounce around and possibly dip, but will eventually climb even higher
c.  Gas prices will drop because of less demand and more supply, they will go down below $2 a gallon.
d. Gas prices have changed my attitude about the environment, the Presidential race, and my car

What is PromiseLand?

Our church is not defined as a building, program, or corporation.  Our church is a group of born again believers of Jesus Christ.  We are growing closer to God, and we are helping others meet God and grow closer to Him as well

Tonight (Tuesday, August 5th, 2008), we have a great opportunity to live out that definition as we welcome the Brock Family to San Marcos.  They are driving the Uhaul from Louisana as I type this blog.  When they arrive in San Marcos, I want as many people as possible to greet them at their apartment.

River Oaks Villa on Aquarena Springs Drive (east of IH-35).

At 5:30pm, Let’s help them unload the truck and celebrate a new part of the family…a new part of the church.

Please comment below you thoughts…

Civil Twilight

Watch and listen to words when you get a chance. Let me know your thoughts on the meaning.

Saying No says Yes.

Thinking about not blogging for several weeks lurched me into a fog.   I was denying  my outlet and  friends  their blogging fix.   However, when I starting thinking about all the things that I was saying yes to by saying no…I was eagerly pleased.

Other examples of this abound.  Saying ‘no’ to unhealthy food says yes to better health. (it better or we will all be really mad).  Saying ‘no’ to fast driving says yes to better gas mileage and safer streets.  Saying ‘no’ to drugs says yes to clarity and a better life.  You get the point.

Sometimes, this ‘yes’ has immediate payback and other times it takes months or years to see the positive (yes) impact of NO.

The blog takes a lot of my time during the day.  Writing, editing comments, etc.  I needed to pause that process and reevaluate my schedule.  I hope you do the same from time to time.  Not only did I spend that extra time wisely, but now I have a better way of budgeting that time.

The moral of the story:  Don’t be afraid to tell persons, places, or things…NO.  Rejection makes a statement. It is a statement that you need to hear yourself say.  Others need to hear you say it, and God needs to hear you say it.  Pray about the nos and yeses. (I double checked those spellings. they look strange don’t they).  Honor and respect those things that no says yes to.

Another great example: Fasting= saying no to food says yes to heightened spirituality.
