10 Commandments of Purity

Those of you in marriages or looking to be married, check out these boundaries for your relationship.

1. I shall have no other human relationships before my spouse, including the kids.
2. I shall remember the date night and keep it holy.
3. I shall honor my spouse on anniversaries and special days so that i may live long in the land the Lord has given me.
4. I shall not take the covenant of marriage in vain by apathy.
5. I shall not ride in a car or eat in a restaurant alone with a member of the opposite sex.
6. I shall not travel alone.
7. I shall not counsel a member of the opposite sex with the doors closed AND without my spouse knowing about it.
8. I shall not share the details of our marriage with others.
9. I shall not watch, read, or expose myself to sexually explicit shows, books, DVDs, etc.
10. I shall remember the implications of breaking this covenant and commandment before God.

Lessons learned from Africa

This is the type of thing you learn when Pastor Ani Simonson stays with you:

  • there are 2 types of medical facilities in Nigeria – a cheap version for minor cuts or bruises.  This is a very risky place. You enter at ‘your own risk’.  The other facility is for the rich only.  You must pay BEFORE any services are offered.  No exceptions.  Therefore, if you cut your arm off and you don’t have money, you are not allowed entrance into the hospital.  There is no help from medical staff regardless of your medical condition.  No health insurance, no credit.  This is why bullet #2 is so important…
  • He and his wife wake up at midnight (every night) and pray until 3am.  They go back to sleep and then wake up at 6am for another hour of prayer.  He goes to the church property, which currently has no buildings or facilities, and stays there throughout the day.  He prays with people as they walk by and request assistance.
  • His tribe is the one who appeared in ‘Amazing Grace’ the blockbuster movie about abolitionists in England and Western Africa.  There are still slavery houses in his home town.  Tourists can travel through them to see how it actually happened.

When we begin to think about our economy and the affects of a recession, maybe we should think about the rest of the world and put it in a different perspective.

Cell Phone Quiz

I was in a meeting Thursday and 2 cell phones went off (very loudly) at different times.  Each time, the person muted it without even looking at it.

WHY take it to a meeting if you aren’t going to use it?  How important does it have to be to interrupt your meeting and answer the phone?

When was the last time you used your phone for an emergency?  How many times this year have you used your phone for a ‘very’ important, time sensitive call?

Would you join my movement to leave cell phones in the car during meetings? (especially one-on-one)
