So Deep
Can you wrap your mind and heart around this Word?
Proverbs 26:4 Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you will be like him yourself 5 Answer a fool according to his folly, or he will be wise in his own eyes.
When reading Proverbs, I get into a rhythm. Most of them are “If, then” statements. Verse 4 basically says “don’t stoop to his level”. However, verse 5 takes it to a whole ‘notha level. The writer changes from telling you how you are affected to telling you how the other person is affected.
My version of Verse 5 = Answer a fool according to his way and he will continue to think he is right.
Is this what you get?

A Special Lady

Another one of our special ladies at PromiseLand is Yvonne Quintero. Or”Bonnie” to those how are ‘in’. She has been with us from night 1 on Centre Street @ Jackson Chapel. Now she and her husband, Pete, lead a great PromiseGroup.
Let me show you how she displays her specialness… Every year, she brings a ton of guests during our annual guest contest, and every year she wins a great prize (2nd, 1st, 3rd place, whatever). Anyway, this year she came in 2nd place and earned a $100 gift certificate. The only thing is that we never gave her the certificate. We forgot. We make mistakes. But she has never complained or got bitter about the situation.
She continues to serve, work hard, love God and people. She has made the choice to be better and not bitter. She is one of the most kind and giving ladies I know. But, I also think she could beat me up if she wanted to. Please don’t!
So, Bonnie, you have $100 coming your way!

What is your mission behind the mundane?
In Iraq, our soldiers are supposed to eat bland and overcooked food, right? Well, at least they aren’t garnished with parsley. For years they have been calorie factories giving troops the fuel they need to do their jobs. An old adage says, “An Army travels on its stomach.”
However, the Pegasus chow hall is different, just outside of the Bagdad airport. They have a new reputation. At Pegasus, the prime rib is perfect, the fruit platter has watermelon, kiwi, and grapes. Soldiers were traveling from safe zones to dangerous zones just to get this dining experience.
Why? Because of Floyd Lee. He was retired (after 25 yrs) of being a cook, but he found a powerful purpose. He knew that the soldiers fought brutal temperatures and devastating situations, and he wanted to provide respite in the middle of the storm. He says it like this, “As I see it, I am not just in charge of food service; I am in charge of morale.”
Chefs wear tall hats, windows have fancy curtains, fluorescent lights have been replaced with softer lighting, favorite sports banners hang on the wall.
Go beyond serving chow. Go beyond your mundane. You can find deeper purpose behind any menial act.

Friday ReVisited
In honor of Friday’s discussion I wanted to show you my favorite CD cover. Ever. (at one time, I designed CD artwork as a part time job) If you have never heard Jason Upton, you need to try him out. A dynamic worship leader.
Anyway, back to Friday. The whole point of my discussion was to push you to honesty. Yes, we all believe everything we all said on there. “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” The cliches keep on coming. In reality, it is one of the most difficult things to do.
I have to keep casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; (2 Corinthians10:5).
