Must Learn Focus!
One of my favorite movies of my childhood is Karate Kid. I always wanted to find an old Japanese man to teach me karate after watching that movie. One of Mr Miyagi’s first lessons to Daniel was, “Focus Daniel-san!” Daniel was punching and kicking all over the place and he wasn’t landing any of them. He could punch hard and kick hard (just ask Johnny) BUT each punch and kick was wasted when not focused.
Tiger Woods won his 5th PGA tournament in a row this past weekend. He is known for his mental toughness and focus. He has enormous talent, but talent is useless if you don’t have focus. His golf talent doesn’t wake him up at 5am to hit the driving range. His golf talent doesn’t keep his mind centered on hitting the ball when people are distracting and other golfers are winning.
Maybe the ability to focus is a talent. If it is, I believe it is one that you can learn and practice. You might not be able to add talent, but you can set your mind to practice and be the best you can be. You can use and invest the talent that you have.
What are you focused on? What is it that you know you must accomplish whether anything else gets accomplished or not? When it comes to ministry, I believe we must all be focused on the task at hand. God’s power and anointing is ready to touch and chose you. That is not questionable. His power was poured out in Acts chapter 2. It has been flowing ever since. So, you don’t have to worry if God is ready.
Whether you have been given 5 talents, 2 talents, or 1 talent you need to learn to focus and use the amount you have been given. Don’t throw them around wildly. Don’t use them for whatever just pops up.
“Must learn focus, blogger-san!”
