Sanctuary Expansion

We have started a ‘discussion’ within our church about the best ideas for building expansion.  Here are some of the comments.  Please read over them and give us your insight.  If you have questions, then ask them!  Either way, we will exchange ideas and work through the difficult process.

Sanctuary Expansion

Robin Steele: Expand in current structural direction and lengthen the sanctuary by 2 structural bays to accommodate additional seating, stage area and greenroom, baptismal prep rooms, washer/dryer room. I think that adding 1 bay for the stage and 1 bay for all the other rooms would be sufficient. I would like to explore the option of having risers in the back of the sanctuary to have stadium like seating for back 1/3.  We need 1 nice size closet for storing sound/lighting equipment.   We need small changing rooms for people being baptized. Also a small closet for storing baptismal clothing.  We need a small wash room with washer dryer hook ups and sink.  Having a toilet on this side of the building would be great for band/singers.

What are your thoughts on this?

Audio/Visual for Sanctuary

Robin Steele: We will most likely leave our lighting truss where it is. The additional length will actually be better for our lighting.  We will need to discuss our sound system with experts to determine additional speakers needed for the additional space.  We will most likely add a center 16:9 screen for additional video options and re-hang the side screens. We will need to make sure all cables, dist amps, etc are planned.  At some point we will go to a digital sound board that will only require Cat5 and not a full snake.

Will KraussWe need to run some higher quality video cables from the tech booth to work with HD projectors. I would like a separate cable for a stage monitor for countdowns and messages to stage members. I have some specs on distro amps and media converters as well as a great AV switch. My only problem with our current light truss is that we can’t have moving head lights and projectors on the same truss. The moving head lights will cause the projectors to shake. I love the idea of having the 16:9 screen. It would also be great to factor in a new mac and propresenter software.

What are your thoughts on this?
