New Way
While reading the Bible this morning, I came across a new way to correct misbehaving church members.
Check out how Nehemiah did it: “ I rebuked them and called curses down on them. I beat some of the men and pulled out their hair.”
Of course this wouldn’t work too well on Scott Carley. But, I digress.
What do you think?

ps. the passage is Nehemiah 13:25 and he corrected the people because they had intermarried with non-Jews.

Honestly………I am game! I mean there are many things that I do, that probably deserve a thump or two on my head. Would help me to remember the next time it comes up. Now curses, I’ll pass on that one. A bruise will heal, missing hair will come back (sorry Mr. Carley) but a curse, that could last a while.
That sure is strange to imagine. No wonder they got that wall built back up!
OK Pastor… the secret is out! It just takes more correction for some of us. But now… none of you can tell when I’ve been in the principals office any more. I’m bald ALL the time! Now for the rest of you bushy headed saints,…. stand up and take your correction like a man (or a woman)! I read in an old book once, “Open rebuke is better than secret love.” I believe in that! THanks pastor!
All I can say is praise God for the new covenant and grace and mercy through Jesus Christ! 🙂
Well, count me in too. Whatever it takes for me to make it in to the pearly gates is worth it. In the context of the times that Nehemih lived, this may not have been such a radical response as we see it today. Still, we need correction from time to time, and if my pastor does not give me this service, who will? Hopefully I won’t be so hard headed that it takes calling down curses, hair pulling, and beating to get my attention.
Amen to that Bro. Steve. By the way, do you have any new cd’s coming out? I have about worn out the last ones.
Bro. Rob,
Actually, I do. Capital is tied up right now in purchasing the rights to the first two CDs and re-releasing them independently, but there is a 4th CD (the Christmas one was the 3rd) about 98% done and, Lord willing, will be available this fall, just as soon as funds are available for duplication.
Glad you like the CDs 🙂
