Trunk or Treat

What a great night. I am so proud of the PromiseGroups and other volunteers.  Bill and Karen did a great job organizing!

Thursday, we had a day of progress, but it was much slower.  I counseled, and then spent most of my day prepping for the message this weekend.  Thursdays are my day to shut down other responsibilities and focus on the Word for the Week.  Of course, it is something that has been simmering in my heart and mind for many days.  Thursday I start writing it down and making it clear.  When I left the church yesterday I was about 75% complete.  From then to Saturday at 6pm it slowly works itself out.  Then, after Saturday nights, it usually changes again on Sunday.

The rest of the staff did great things as well: mailed out letters to ushers/hostesses, built shelves upstairs, put furniture together, prayed with people, went shopping for Youth Friday night and a Turkey dinner.

FRIDAY – Its a race to the finish tonight with Trunk or Treat.  I must say that Bill Sinor is our hero of Trunk or Treat.  He is doing a great job so far.  I will be heading up to the church around 4pm to get things together. See ya’ll tonight.

Monday, Matt and I ‘got to work’ with a bunch of electrical equipment and a 25′ lift.  We changed lights, added new ones, painted the ceiling, and had a good time.

Tuesday, we are hitting the ground running.  So far we have:

  • The church is hosting a funeral for Rose Medina’s father, Wednesday at 11am.  We are organizing those details and helping them get some chicken for the meal.
  • The Rodriguez’ went to Waco because Lorraine’s father fell in the hospital.
  • The DVD player is going rogue, so we had to create a new copy for the orders that were placed.
  • I created and posted a PromiseGroup lesson for this week.
  • I sent an email to Dan Armstrong.  (a great man and dear friend)
  • We had a mini-meeting with Bill Sinor to plan our Trunk or Treat on Friday night.  YOU BETTER COME!
  • I am talking through email to the elders about a security planning meeting.  We are creating a new ministry that will handle situations at the church that might get out of hand.

As I type it is only 11:30am and we are getting hungry.  Ever wonder what we do all day at the church???  This week, I am going to give you an inside track on it.
