BRING PEOPLE!

Ratio

We are right in the middle of the guest contest we host every Summer. What usually happens is that you invite many people and only 1 or 2 actually come. What is your ratio of invitees to actual attending guests? Whoever is most successful needs to give us some tips.

This summer has been interesting with the 1 week “break” that we had, but we are jumping back in right where we left off. We really haven’t been talking about it much, but we are competing with the other churches. Jackie, how are we doing?

nostalgia

so….someday will we all long to sing the songs that we currently sing at church because they are the “good old songs” ????…… I’ve heard people say about the old hymns “those songs are just so good”, or “they make me cry”….. is it because they are better songs, or is it just nostalgia? I love coffee. Not just the taste, but the whole thing surrounding it. The warm cup—the smells of my dad getting up early in the morning—memories of never ending road trips with my family—-it is such a nostalgic moment every time i have coffee. That may be the way it is with the old songs, too….. Now i haven’t done any studies, but its all starting to make sense. Our songs will someday be boring to the “young” folks, but we’ll have memories of great moments with God while singing these songs. KEEP IN MIND that God always wants us to find new ways to worship him…..new phrases, new instruments, new chords—– I pray that He will allow me to flow with the change that is coming…..I personally don’t want to hear another song that says “holy, holy, holy is the lord God almighty”…… we’ve established that and the angels have been singing that one for a while…. ok—-

busy day

I have  a very busy day today, so my blog is not that intriguing.  I have a funeral, lunch appt., sermon prep, talking with county officials about our road, prayer, and topping it off with a date with Erica.  We are going to see Jacob play the drums for Phillips, Craig, and Dean.

President for a day

Did you know on Friday or Saturday that President Bush had a colonoscopy? (not sure how to spell that one)

Anyway, during the process, Dick Chenney assumed the duties of President for several hours. Then when President Bush woke up, he was supposed to let everyone know he was ready to take back over. This sounds like an episode of “24”. But if that were the case, Chenney, would use the opportunity to let his coup take over, oust Bush from office and even pull the plug on his IV or something.

Hopefully these things don’t happen, but there is no telling what goes on up there.
