Jackie’s Relative

While eating lunch together on Monday, we found out that our church administrator, Jackie Fields, is related to a famous dead person. Can you guess?

jackiea. Kurt Cobain
b. James Dean
c. Elvis Presley
d. Marlyn Monroe
e. Jerry Faldwell
In fact, this person’s parents pierced her ears. Jackie will be signing autographs at church from now on…

Check back Wednesday for the revealed secret.

New Way

While reading the Bible this morning, I came across a new way to correct misbehaving church members.

Check out how Nehemiah did it: “ I rebuked them and called curses down on them. I beat some of the men and pulled out their hair.

Of course this wouldn’t work too well on Scott Carley. But, I digress.

What do you think?

ps.  the passage is Nehemiah 13:25 and he corrected the people because they had intermarried with non-Jews.

ok, so this is bad…

It seems that there was a little old church out in the countryside: painted white and with a high steeple.

One Sunday, the pastor noticed that his church needed painting. He checked out the Sunday ads and found a paint sale. The next day, he went into town and bought a gallon of white paint. He went back out to the church and began the job.

He got done with the first side. It was looking great. But he noticed he had already used a half gallon. He didn’t want to run back in town and being the creative person that he was, he found a gallon of thinner in the shed out back, and began to thin his paint.

It worked out great. He finished the remaining three sides with that last half gallon of paint.

That night, it rained: it rained hard. The next morning when he stepped outside of the parsonage to admire his work, he saw that the first side was looking great, but that the paint on the other three sides had washed away.

The pastor looked up in sky in anguish and cried out, “What shall I do?”

A voice came back from the heavens saying, “Repaint, and thin no more!”

are you on the internet?

online pirateHow many times have you “googled” your name? Are you readily available online? That could be a dangerous place to be. This morning I was listening to 590am and heard Sgt Sam and Ed debating the new website spock.com. This website boasts that soon it will be the Google of people searching websites. You can find anyone anywhere online.
The availability of personal information online might be flattering to some, but to others it is a risk of safety. I went to spock and found over 3 pages of “robin steele”, but it is really slow. The version online now is beta or experimental.

do you care? if you haven’t posted to yesterday, then what are you waiting for?

rare saturday blog

I took the picture up there on our little vacation out to the Davis Mountains in west Texas. I could almost see a tribe of Apaches coming across the desert as my family loaded our wagon…well, I mean the silver mini-van. Instead of a six-shooter on my waist, I had a baby bottle in one hand and some wipes in the other. Oh well, I can still dream.
