What do you do when you get to work and don’t work yet? Most of us talk! We talk to our co-workers about the weekend, sports, tv shows, etc. It is the old “water cooler” experience.

As I woke up this morning, it was beautiful outside. Crisp and bright. It reminded me of my pre-work ritual at my job in New Mexico. I didn’t have to show up until 9:30am, but the lifts opened at 9am. So, most of us ski instructors (at Taos, NM) would ride to the top of the mountain and get ‘first tracks’ on fresh groomers. Ever done that? When you get to the top of the mountain that early in the morning, it is more than crisp. Anyway, trails that have been groomed by the big machines have tight ribs, we call them corduroy. Skiing down them as fast as you can. Now, that is a Pre-Work Ritual.

Now, I drink a little coffee, shoot the breeze, and of course ‘blog’.

Well, thankfully she didn’t literally strike.  I might be visiting her in jail if that were the case.  Anyway, we drove up to Kennady’s school yesterday to drop her off and there was a police car parked illegally.  He was not just in the handicapped spot but in the stripped, unloading part of the space.  (we require this stripped part since we have a ramp now) So what does she do?  She marches into the school to find the officer.

To make a long story semi-short…he finally walks out of the building and  Erica confronts him on the sidewalk.  She explains the dilemma of daily needing the spot and people are illegally parked there.  Then to come and the people that are supposed to help you are parked in the same spot!  He is embarrassed and promises to help out.

Moral of the story: don’t park illegally in handicapped spaces and don’t mess with Erica!

On my way out of church yesterday, I saw a man turn onto Lime Kiln Road from Post Rd in a 2007 white Mercedez convertible.  Immediately, I was thinking about the man’s status and how cool the car was.  He was about 53 years old.

Why did I think that this man was ‘worth’ something?  Then I thought, how would I consider this man if I saw him turning the corner in a beat up 1983 Toyota Corolla. 

Same man in a different car?  Or would that be a different man in a different car?

About five minutes later I saw a man driving a 2001 white Chrysler Sebring convertible.  He was about 38 years old.  This car is not close to the status of the first one.

How many options can you come up with as to why these men are in the status they are?
