What is PromiseLand?
Our church is not defined as a building, program, or corporation. Our church is a group of born again believers of Jesus Christ. We are growing closer to God, and we are helping others meet God and grow closer to Him as well
Tonight (Tuesday, August 5th, 2008), we have a great opportunity to live out that definition as we welcome the Brock Family to San Marcos. They are driving the Uhaul from Louisana as I type this blog. When they arrive in San Marcos, I want as many people as possible to greet them at their apartment.
River Oaks Villa on Aquarena Springs Drive (east of IH-35).
At 5:30pm, Let’s help them unload the truck and celebrate a new part of the family…a new part of the church.

TOURISM
$21 million San Marcos conference center is dusty but almost ready
The city-owned center is attached to Embassy Suites, also under construction, and will be managed by a private partner.

SAN MARCOS — Construction dust covers the unfinished floors of the city’s new conference center, a $21 million investment-in-progress.
But even with its chandeliers stuffed in crates and its junior ballroom steeped in the smell of freshly stained wood, the San Marcos Conference Center and the adjacent Embassy Suites have already booked $1.2 million in business.
The city sold $22.5 million in bonds that did not require voter approval to build and finance the center. The debt will be repaid using a combination of revenue from sales, hotel and property taxes solely from the 15-acre development.
In exchange for managing the hotel and paying for construction costs that exceed $20 million, John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts LLC will keep any direct profits.
City officials said they hope the center will boost tourism and spur development along Interstate 35.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity to put San Marcos more on the map and get people here and spending their money in our town,” Council Member Kim Porterfield said.
The city signed the agreement, which will last until 2032, with Missouri-based Hammons in 2005.

During prayer this morning, God told me to listen more closely and make more time for Him. I know this means I need to take a break from blogging. This is my last blog until August. I have learned to listen and obey. I will send you an email when it returns.
I will be back and I know you will too. See you this weekend!

Taking Advantage
Erica and I are on a trip that the church purchased for our birthdays. A bed and breakfast out in Comfort, TX. Near Kerrville.
No stalkers, please. No blog tomorrow.
We love you and will be at church on Saturday and Sunday.

PSM update
- Yesterday, we received the Playground layout so now we can resume with construction. There are about 20 holes that need to be drilled and dirt that needs to be spread. We possibly will need to take out a few more trees. The playground is scheduled to arrive in mid-July. At that point, we will have a BIG assembly ‘party’. All are welcome to attend.
- We have signed a real estate contract with our neighbor to purchase an additional 10 acres from him. We are now going through the process of obtaining financing. We will be putting this purchase to a congregational vote. If you are interested in having your say in the matter, be listening for the mtg date. We need at least 10 more acres for us to complete an expansion that will seat ALL our members. Purchasing the land is the first step in the process.
- This year we have “summer camp” for the whole family. Well…it is not exactly summer camp, and it is not all at the same time. There are 4 separate camps: kids, teens, women, and men. (in that order) All are at Genesis Ranch near Canyon Lake.
- We are going out to the San Marcos river for a baptism. If you are interested in being baptized, then come on out. We are setting the date soon! It will be a Sunday night in July.
Keep checking the website: http://www.psmchurch.com – the calendar has all our church events. Don’t miss out this summer!
