So Deep

Can you wrap your mind and heart around this Word?

Proverbs 26:4 Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you will be like him yourself 5 Answer a fool according to his folly, or he will be wise in his own eyes.

When reading Proverbs, I get into a rhythm. Most of them are “If, then” statements. Verse 4 basically says “don’t stoop to his level”. However, verse 5 takes it to a whole ‘notha level.  The writer changes from telling you how you are affected to telling you how the other person is affected.

My version of Verse 5 = Answer a fool according to his way and he will continue to think he is right.

Is this what you get?

Pre-Work Ritual

groomerWhat do you do when you get to work and don’t work yet? Most of us talk! We talk to our co-workers about the weekend, sports, tv shows, etc. It is the old “water cooler” experience.

As I woke up this morning, it was beautiful outside. Crisp and bright. It reminded me of my pre-work ritual at my job in New Mexico. I didn’t have to show up until 9:30am, but the lifts opened at 9am. So, most of us ski instructors (at Taos, NM) would ride to the top of the mountain and get ‘first tracks’ on fresh groomers. rippingEver done that? When you get to the top of the mountain that early in the morning, it is more than crisp. Anyway, trails that have been groomed by the big machines have tight ribs, we call them corduroy. Skiing down them as fast as you can. Now, that is a Pre-Work Ritual.

Now, I drink a little coffee, shoot the breeze, and of course ‘blog’.

What about you?

Margins

I thought that taking off Saturday and Sunday from the blog was enough, but I have realized that I need more margin in this area. So, Monday blogs will be few and far between. Count on Tues-Fri being better than ever.

A Special Lady

Another one of our special ladies at PromiseLand is Yvonne Quintero.  Or”Bonnie” to those how are ‘in’.  She has been with us from night 1 on Centre Street @ Jackson Chapel.  Now she and her husband, Pete, lead a great PromiseGroup.

Let me show you how she displays her specialness… Every year, she brings a ton of guests during our annual guest contest, and every year she wins a great prize (2nd, 1st, 3rd place, whatever).  Anyway, this year she came in 2nd place and earned a $100 gift certificate.  The only thing is that we never gave her the certificate.  We forgot.  We make mistakes.  But she has never complained or got bitter about the situation.

She continues to serve, work hard, love God and people.  She has made the choice to be better and not bitter.  She is one of the most kind and giving ladies I know.  But, I also think she could beat me up if she wanted to.  Please don’t!

So, Bonnie, you have $100 coming your way!
