Day One -New You Resolution 2017
Today, we kicked off the New You Resolution and I want to add a public blog entry each day.
We had a great time at church in all 3 services in San Marcos. I heard good reports from the Lockhart campus as well.
I will be following the Daniel Fast this year. No meats and sugar. I do eat some grains during a Daniel Fast. Mostly vegetables, fruit, juices, water, smoothies, etc. I will eat beans and rice. Nothing fried. One day a week, I will fast from all food until dinner. This morning I drank a fruit smoothie. I snacked on grapes during church. I ate veggie bowl at Chipotle for lunch. Dinner? I have no idea yet. 🙂
I will continue my daily devotions and add prayer times throughout the day. I am thinking through the 4 Ws. My Worries. My Wrongs. My Wounds. My Wishes.
God what are you telling me?
I simply put this info here to keep myself accountable and help encourage some of you. Please do what you feel is a challenge for you.

Today was a real challenge for me…after service we as a family talked about what we decided to fast from. I felt the need to get rid of social media, well that’s not the hard part….my husband felt that he was supposed to give up eating out…..my 1st response was to get angry and throw a fit (keeping it real) I lashed out and said That’s not fair! Your fasting effects me and Trey! It should be about you not us! (So selfish of me) (sometimes I surprise myself) I started thinking he’s just doing this to tournament me and I bet all he really cares about is saving money! And great now I’m left cooking every day all the time sheesh!!!! Well after storming off to do the dishes I started talking out loud to God about it repeating the same argument…
This isn’t fair etc…. then all of a sudden I realized what a jerk I was being! Instead of being grateful that I have a husband that chose to not only listen but make a commitment to God! Why was I even arguing about something so stupid…Goodness knows I can afford to skip some eating out. And truth be known It’s better for us in the long run.
Long story short I had to apologize and tell my husband I supported any decision he felt the need to make.
Thank you church family for helping keep us accountable (if you see me at whataburger I give you permission to slap the burger out of my hand…) Thank you pastor for all you do to help us have a closer relationship with God
Thanks for sharing these honest comments, Angela! I love how God works through our family to reach us. I love how the process of fasting really reveals our heart and mind. I will be praying that this is just the beginning for your awakening!
