What is the best way to read the Bible?
Why read the Bible?
Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Reading the Bible helps you understand the world. It is amazing literature. Some of the greatest, most often quoted poetry, proverbs, and parables ae from the Bible. However, above all those reasons, the Bible contains the heart of God. As you read the words to the Bible you hear, feel, and begin to understand the heartbeat of God and Grace. Jesus said He was the bread of life. When you read the Bible you consume that eternal, life giving bread.
How do I read the Bible?
Open it up and start. If you are brand new to Christianity, then start with Matthew. Read the first four books of the ‘New Testament’. These are personal accounts of the life of Jesus. You will experience His, birth, sinless life, miracles, crucifixion, death, resurrection, and ascension into heaven. You will read all of the wonderful teachings. If you have been a follower of Jesus for a long time, then start at Genesis or Romans.
- Set a time goal – Read for 15min a day or 30min or 60min or whatever fits your schedule.
- Set a chapter goal – Read 2 chapters a day or 3 or 4 or 8 or whatever fits your schedule.
- Set a book goal – Find a particular book of the Bible and read that book
- Set a Bible goal – Read the entire Bible in 1 year.
