What about a 72 year old bodybuilder?
So many spiritual lessons to be learned here. How many parallels are there for future sermons? You can find inspiration in the strangest places.

Pastor!! I just love to read all the twitter messages you leave, like Avery drinking out of the Baptistery and you and Matt Seducing fish. Which brings up saturday. My Son was in trouble and he had to sit with me during service anyway… When you started talking about “fishing” I thought the boy was going to fly out of his seat with excitment and overwhelming joy of his faviorte Pastor talking abouth his Most favirote thing to do. He was really taking notes during that part. 🙂 He has really been deprived of fishing sense his Dad has been gone.
What an inspiration. I seem to have trouble holding to the body I have at 57, much less building a new one. I’m sure there is a sermon there somewhere but have to work today so will think about this later.
But reject profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness. For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come. – I Timothy 4:7-8
Perhaps the sermon here is that physical principles can be applied in a spiritual manner. This man has exercised one hour everyday and he consistantly eats a healthy diet. If we eat a consistantly healthy spiritual diet (reading our Bible’s daily) and exercise ourselves toward godliness (consistantly pursue integrity and godly character) then we can be spiritually “fit”.
AND the 2 go together
We gotta keep our temple fit and put things in it that are good both physically & spiritually. There was a sermon on just this subject a few months back. It was among a series of other sermons.
Hi Kathy,
Is that sermon available at the Kiosk in the lobby? 😀
“Lose it For Life”
cb, yes, it is available by order. I don’t think we have any extras right now. As mentioned, in the last post, the title is “Lose it for Life”—along with others in the series.
