Hype, Spin, Faith
Hype, spin, and faith. Each word congers up certain feelings, attitudes, and emotions.
When looking at the politic races, I hear a lot of each of these. I read today that John McCain “says he has momentum after winning in South Carolina.” This might be a fact, or it might be a candidate spinning or hyping or having faith. Only time will tell if he has momentum and how much it is. The key that I read was he ‘says’ he has momentum. Why do you have to promote the fact that you have momentum? If you have it, then you don’t need to promote it. Right?
Why talk about this? I don’t really care about McCain’s political momentum, and I am not picking on him. It just seems like a good example for…Our relationship with God and our situations in life.
My faith is built on nothing less than Jesus Christ and His righteousness. My belief in God is based on my exposure to HIM alone. Not facts of life, not situations that I go through, not what other people explain or prove. This world could pass away and I would still believe.
So, faith based on Jesus Christ alone means that I don’t have to use hype or spin to explain the situations of life. Good things, bad things, neutral things all are separate from my system of faith.
