Books I’ve Read Lately
Made Meaningful
Oh, that one is so NOT cool……
Sad to say, that used to be me. I thought by living a life of good deeds and paying it forward that somehow it would out way all of my short comings. Little did I know the severity of this train of thought. I praise God for the derailment of my thoughts, and bringing that train unto the valley of true repentance.
Reminds me of the grasshopper standing on the train tracks shaking his fist at the oncoming train and saying: “I’ve been here all day and am king of this track. I just dare you to make me move.”
Sometimes I don’t read the blog daily so my response is a couple of days behind. I know you blog addicts can’t hardly understand that thought.
One of the things that came to my mind when I read this cartoon it is how many people rely on the pastor of a church for their salvation and relationship with God. They think that if they give gifts, like in the cartoon, to the pastor the pastor will be obligated to pray for their repentance, their salvation, and blessings in their lives and somehow that is going to save them. The person believes they don’t have to do what it takes to have a relationship with God. What is sad is that they are missing out on that wonderful relationship you get with God, the communion in prayer, the guiding of our daily walk, the peace, the happiness, and joy that is in your personal relationship with God. We, as the body of Christ, have a responsibility to share our light with those who are still living in the dark. Kathy Steele forwarded a quote the other day which I think ties to my rambling thoughts:
Live in such a way that those who know you
but don’t know God will come to know God
because they know you.
If we live our lives in the above manner then more people will not have the cartoon’s philosophy.
I am so thankful that we have a church leadership that directs us in the truth and light of what a real relationship with God is about so we can develop our own real personal walk with our Savior.
