Texas Public Schools Sex Education

Ok, right after blogging about being proud of praying on the Texas State Campus, I need to tell you about a study a couple of professors came out with.

A foundation called the Texas Freedom Network, paid Texas State University to study the effects of our state’s sex education curriculum.  The foundation mentioned above has a mission to “counter the religious right”.  So, what do you think the purpose of the survey was?  It was to prove that “abstinence only” sex education is not working.  The Texas Freedom Network wants to “free” our society of ‘imposed’ morality standards.  They promote “religious freedom” (which really means freedom from religion) and “individual rights” (which means we should all do anything we want).

So, the faculty of Texas State, comprehensively studied all of our Texas public school sex education programs.  What do you think they found out?  Well, Read the rest of this entry

Texas State Prayer

Jonnie Wilson invited me to pray at the Texas State MLK luncheon last month.  It was a great honor to play a spiritual part on campus.

Here is the prayer I prayed.  It is rare for me to write a prayer out, but I thought it was appropriate for this occation.

Heavenly Father, we come to you this morning with thanksgiving.
Out of all the regions of the world and spaces of time to reside,  you have hand selected here and now for us to fulfill a powerful and eternal purpose.
We are forever grateful for those who stood, sat, marched, and spoke before us.  Specifically for Dr Martin Luther King Jr., who illustrated the dream.  We pray that you would give our generation the wisdom, integrity and passion to live out the dream amongst all the challenges we face.
We pray for our academic, political, business, and social leadership may they lead us closer to unity without taking us farther from you.
We thank you for the food, may it be Blessed and be a nourishment.
We pray these things in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Race In My World

I can not speak for other races, creeds, backgrounds or women. However, I am an expert on my historical heritage.

As for white, 32 yrs old, male, raised in Texas to a Christian family, I can speak for quite a while.  My background has interesting sides that funnel me into where I am today.  I am blessed with a great, loving family.  My childhood church was powerful.  My college education deepened my prospective.

My family is white.  I would say that my heredity is not racist, however I would say that they Read the rest of this entry
