I think “but” works better simply because it is a better play on the word. The person’s posterior is implied with out the crudity used, thus creating a little humor and getting the folks attention better. If you go straight to the “butt” (pun intended) there is a loss of effectiveness.
I like the second choice as it gives you more to work with from a promotional standpoint. It is also less “in your face” to those who might be sensitive, but also funny as people can easily pick up on the play on words.
As I read this I invisioned my nephew saying butt butt butt… Butt butt butt and how we got onto him for being inappropriate and impolite. So especially if this will be on the marquee for all to see, then I’d think leaving more to the imagination is the better bet. 🙂
