News on the Election Front
Several key ammendments were passed or voted down according to Biblical standards on November 4th.
- Arizona banned Gay marriage 56% to 44%
- Arkansas banned Gay Couples from adopting children 57% to 43%.
- California banned Gay marriage 52% to 48%
- Florida banned Gay marriage 62% to 38%
It was interesting to me that all the Gay marriage amendments were banned, however several states had laws concerning abortion limitations and they were not passed. A Washington state initiative allows doctor assisted suicide, and Michigan is allowing stem cell research. These show us there is WORK to be done. We can’t sit back and expect our vote to do everything.
Remember, our Government represents not our American people but our voters. It is important that the church of God, sets the agenda for our future. Legislation is the slim piece of the puzzle. We must live daily to influence our kids, parents, friends, neighbors and co-workers by living like Jesus Christ. Our Christ-like example and love for others will influence them away from sinful activities such as addictions, death, abortion, divorce, teen-age pregnancies, etc. This works much better than a policy. The more that God is revealed in a society, the more holy it becomes. The less need there is for laws or regulation. We self-govern and we provide for ourselves.

Look at this quote from cnn.com: “Tuesday was a day of relief for supporters of reproductive rights. Voters in Colorado rejected a measure defining a person to “include any human being from the moment of fertilization,”

“supporters of ‘reproductive rights'” In other words, those who want to abort kids. It is phrased to give no weigh or responsibility to the adult. The problem in their eyes is that THEIR right as a person is being taken away if they can not take the life of another.
Matt 13:36-43, Matt 24:1-31, Matt 25:1-13, 2 Peter 3:9-13. These are but a few scriptures explaining how this world is not our home and the discomfort we feel is in accordance with the second coming of our Lord. This time of mercy and grace is drawing to an end, whether by death or rapture, and we, with truth, need to be diligent in sharing the unadulterated gospel of repentance, baptism in Jesus’ name and the regenerating power of His Holiness in us preparing these earthly temples for our true home. The Kingdom of God is Him in us and the Kingdom of Heaven is us in Him. I beg all who see this response to seek out your salvation with fear and trembling (Phil 2:12) for with stammering lips and another tongue will He speak to His people (Is 28:11).
We will never stop abortion until the hearts of the women/mothers of this nation are changed.
Gay marriage will not cease until the hearts of men and women are turned away from lustful desires and turned toward God.
God changes hearts, not governments, not legislation, not presidents.
The law changing is only a fruit, of hearts being changed. We will see abortion laws begin to pass in favor of limiting or out-lawing abortion when the women of this nation begin to value human life.
We must begin to cry out to our Maker…
2 Chronicles 7:14
if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

AMEN!!!!! so glad to finally hear someone say this!!
And furthermore, if we want government to govern ALL of our moral issues, then why isn’t it a felony to be unfaithful to our spouses, or covet your neighbor’s belongings, spouse, etc?
The death penalty is murder, isn’t it? No sin is greater than the next, all sins are equal, right?
SO
Why do we expect our government to have laws governing certain moral issues and not others such as adultery?
You must also rememeber, the men that wrote our Declaration of Independence stated that all men are created equal yet they were slave owners, some of them. This in itself indicates that those we put so much faith in are only men.
I agree with what Anne Griffith said in a previous comment, we are not of this world, we just happen to live here for a short while. Our guidance should come from God and He alone will convict us.
Syliva — thanks for the comment!! here are a few more thoughts:
The discussion we have is where does government begin and end. I vote for it to be less involved than more. Because of this, I take a more conservative stance on most issues.
As a pastor and Christian, I rely on God for conversion and not the government.
Speaking as an American citizen, I want my government to make a priority out of protecting life.
No sin is greater than the next in an eternal context. This means God treats all sin the same. He forgives them all. However, in an earthly context each sin has a different affect on people and those surrounding them. Governments and legislation deal with earthly consequence to sin. That is why we put some moral failures above others when it comes to prioritizing legislation.
I agree that there is a lot of hypocrisy everywhere in government. Let’s all pray that the fire of GOD comes forth and consumes the chaff of our life. God is so good and so powerful. May He have His way in our lives!!
and yet another big AMEN!!! this one to pastorrobin for comment #6…
what a great explanation!! well said…and well balanced.
I agree with Jereme. Well said, Pastor! Keep up the good work at PSM and in all of our lives. Thanks for taking the lead!
