Kennady Speaks
Kennady said her first official word and it was Spanish. It is a good thing she is surrounded at church with all those Spanish speakers!
My parents took her on a special trip to Sesame Street at the Erwin Center. They were on the first row and interacted with many different characters. At one point, Rosita had the whole crowd learn ‘hola!’ When she asked the crowd to say hola, Kennady said it clearly and distinctly. My parents were shocked.
So, if you want to talk with Kennady, you need to learn Spanish and talk to her about Elmo. This will get her warmed up! May this just be the beginning.

For those of you that have not met Kennady, she has a condition called Alobar Holoprosencephaly.

on a side note, why does Grover and Elmo get to be naked, when the others are clothed?
hellooo, Grover is a monster and monsters have fur and don’t need clothes.
The only exception is Grungetta who wears a dress, but I think that is just because she is a grouch which is different from a monster obviously.
Cause they come from a cold climate and just ..ain`t.. climatized yet . Like some real people I know.
So that is why i think they run around naked.
You go miss Kennedy.
Miss Kennedy doesnt have to say any words and yet she says so much!!! But I guess so she can better understand me I will start sharpening my spanish skills!!!
P.s. Isnt Rosita A monster? and she wears clothes
I agree with you, Angela, Kennady usually communicates non-verbally, but she does communicate all the time. You just have to slow down and spend some time with her to understand. Her smile alone is worth a thousand words. Someday, if I really work on it, I may be able to attain her spirit of quite acceptance and total trust in the face of unbelievable odds against survival
Angela, I think bert needs to come see you for a brow waxing.
Hola Pastor Steele y familia. I am Elder Ruben Avila’s wife from Promiseland Central in Austin, Texas. ok, I heard that it’s the official language in HEAVEN! “Dios Es Grande y Tan Bueno y por siempre Su Nombre sea glorificado!” here on Earth we’ve got to Love Sesame Street! it’s great to hear this powerful praise report!
When I babysit Kennady at PromiseLand-Austin she was still an infant. I used to sing to her then, and I made up a song singing her name to her. She must have known her name in spite of her age because she sort of hummed along with me while I sang to her. When I had her dad listen to those sweet sounds coming out of her as I sang to her, he said he had never heard her make those sounds before. I treasure that time I spent with her back then, and I’m thankful to God for the blessing of her in our lives.
This made me cry. How awesome that little girl is! She is truly an angel among us, that speaks spanish. I guess I need to learn spanish. Love ya’ll!
I’m so excited to hear that Kennady said her first word! And, that I found your blog! Sending lots of love and HoPE to Kennady from Sammy’s mom!
