That means…

Pastor: God is saying you need to do “A”

Person: That means I will have to change “B”, “C”, and “D”.  I have never been able to do “A” because “B”, “C”, and “D” have always been there.

Pastor:  Well,  God’s Word says to do “A”.

Person: You mean change the other stuff?  That will be a sacrifice.  That will be hard.

Pastor:  God’s Word says to do “A”.  You will need to change “B”, “C”, and “D”.  It will be difficult to begin with, but the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead will raise you.  Though “B”, “C”, and “D” will change, God will make “E”, “F”, and “G” so much better.  Those will make “B”, “C”, and “D” look real lame.

Person:  ok.

  1. That seems to really portray my feelings about the stuff you and I have been chatting about in email. I had a lot of B, C, and D’s to change, but discovered E, F, and G in the process. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything!!

Not sure if you see the same correlation, but I couldn’t help but think of that when I read this. I’ll be curious to see what your thoughts are on this one.

    steve 🙂

  2. aw, yeah!

  3. Reading that, reminded me of the math problems I used to detest in school. The problem with those was it was me, trying to figure out something, I was never created to comprehend. The blessing with Pastor’s equation is that it is still me, however now I am led by His Spirit, for the Answer dwelleth within me. Therefore the out come, and everything in between “a to z” is nothing more than transistion through the abundance of His grace into what I was created to do through Him, and for Him.

  4. So an example might be… an anger issue. Anger is just the manefestation of deeper issues. In order to overcome the anger, you need to go back and forgive a person from your past (or something along those lines).

Samuel told Saul that obedience is better than sacrifice. Somewhere along the way, I realized that sacrifice is what we choose to give, obedience is what God asks us for. Sacrifice is on our terms…obedience on His terms. Everytime in my life, when God has asked me for something, it has always been a door to something better in my life. I may have viewed it as a sacrifice but looking back it hasn’t been. His asking, always has a deeper purpose.

  5. Funny how easy this makes it to plug in my own situation and understand what God has been asking of me.

  6. This is a pastor’s heart being revealed.

The Lord nudging the person using the pastor’s voice. Walk this way, make this consecration; then I want to show you some stuff and use you more.

  7. Keep on Pastor! Thank you for being honest. Thank you all for blogging. I’m at a place where I would rather not hear/read this … but you all help me to grow. And I love growing … well after I realize that’s what it is 🙂 A, B and C are not up to me but up to Him. I just have to be obedient.

  8. Awesome message I have discovered in my own life. When God says do A he usually gives specific directions. And I try to do it my way and make it worse.
In that I learned that without A. and when I change B,C,D. I will grow like the tree planted by the rivers of water. My leaf will not wither and whatever I do will prosper. (Psalm 1)

I want to hear from you! Let's hear it....ready....GO!!!
