What an incredible picture of Erica!!!
Alright, I am going to highjack the blog for a minute…..of course, this is nothing unusual for you regular bloggers seeing as you have Rob and Joshua who are regular highjackers around here. ;*)
Now, on the note of pictures…you just have to love them. They take an image of you and keep it whether it is bad or good. Fortunately on this day I had a chance to get ready before the picture was taken.
However….you did not see me at 5:30 this morning when I got up and entered my bathroom to see a blotchy red face with no makeup and hair that looked like a broken mattress.
If I still had a myspace, this would be my picture. For those of you that don’t know about myspace, it is all about ME/YOU; hence the name “my space”. Anyway, everyone on there is promoting themselves and their pictures, but most of them have to crop someone out, or get a picture from about 20 inches, or as far as their lanky arms will get them from their camera. What you don’t see is people with pictures of themselves at 5:30 in the morning with bags under their eyes and wild hair. Strange isn’t it.
The point of all this, is that pictures seem to hold us (if they are good) in a place where we can say, man that person is really good looking or the opposite, but the bottom line is that good pictures a great, but over rated when it comes to judging the true beauty of a person, because they still wake up with the not so polished look.
Just a though that there is more to a person than the outward appearance.
(I am sure all of you are way beyond these thoughts, but I just threw them out there for you)
But…please DO NOT take this as an excuse to disregard the care of your outward looks. PLEASE!!
Maybe this should be under random mumblings or whatever the title is.

Pastor Erica, I once bought a book due to the fact, of wanting to have the sought after cover in my home. It set on my shelf for years, until I took the time to read it. Only then, did I realize what the inward held that enabled me to grow through it. However it was the outward appearance that caused me to first bring it home. Whith a woman of your stature and polish, I would expect nothing less than your modest “hi-jacking”.
I will just add, that we at PSM, have been taught well, for we have been given a open book whom has been walking amungst us, to lend its wisdom by example along the way. Tis, seems now a publisher has found the cover shot to bring compliment to what is held inside….

The fact that you are so humble about your appearance, Erica is why I believe the beauty stands out. I recently purchased a book “Moments of peace in the presence of God” and it shares Psalm 138:6 “Though the Lord is supreme, he takes care of those who are humble, but he stays away from the proud.” and Psalm 139.23-24 “God, examine me and know my heart; test me and know my nervous thoughts. See if there is any bad thing in me. Lead me on the road to everlasting life.” The prayer for today is “God, help me measure my life by your standard so that my hope may shine brightly and never be disappointed. Amen” It shares that many people believe that such thins as money, possessions, beauty, intelligence and power are the measure of their lives. But what is you were to awaken to find one of those gone from your life? Would you be overcome by hopelessness and despair? No measure other than the eternal love of God is a true measure. Erica, I see your Hope shining in your eyes. That is what makes you so beautiful!

I remember a time when Pastor Robin had been dating Erica for a few months and he asked me: “Dad, do you think I have met my future wife yet?” I am sure he was trying to find out my opinion of her but I just said, “Well that depends on how much you travel from now on. It’s a big world out there.” He did in fact travel to Europe and other places after that but nowhere did he find somebody that could replace Erica. I mean here is a woman that beats snakes over the head with a flashlight to retrieve her hen’s eggs and balances Avery on her hip while helping me chase a wayward cow and calf back into the pasture. Sure, when God created her, he put together a beautiful wrapping as shown in this picture, but the contents of that package is what won all of our hearts.

Erica, what a beautiful picture. I bet most people who meet you and know you see you this beautiful in their hearts already. They don’t need a physical picture to see you in this light. But you did take a great one, girl!
